Hi, I have no clue about Benguluru geography. Does any one know where Jakkur is? Is it considered suburbs? are there any IT companies in and around?
TIA

This is actually north of Bangalore en route the new airport at Devanahalli. As a general rule it is very far away(diametrically opposite ) to typical IT hubs like ITPL, Bannerghatta Road, etc. However there are a few IT companies like IBM, Phillips near the near Hebbal Flyover, but that also would be nearly 6 to 7 Km from Jakkur.
However many Defence based employees reside there. There is nothing special about that area and unless there is a compelling reason, I would not look to reside there.

Hebbal Flyover is 6 to 7 Kms from Jakkur??? Are you sure about it? And, you say it's diametrically opposite to ITPL too?

Anyway, come to think of it...I'm of the opinion that Hebbal Flyover will be a hot spot in the near future with the bunch of new IT shops being set-up...not to mention the talk of Biotech-park and the close proximity of pharmaceutical and medical establishments. Well, just my thoughts.

It used to be as you have described, years ago.

IMO, this is already is the fastest growing area. Jakkur is not located "north of BLR" anymore, it is north BLR

You may be right. I am still old school, where North BLR starts from Majestic and pretty much goes as far as Hebbal.

Also regarding distances from fly over, I may be off by a couple of KM. I thought Yelahanka circle to the flyover was about 10 km. I am quoting from memory here, so take that with a pinch of salt.

Another issue with regard to North BLR is that the water problems are more severe there.

This is what I've been hearing as well. Apparently Cauvery does not reach Devn'halli area and the ground water table has receded below 1000 ft

Well, ground water table has receded in most parts of Bangalore - more so in the Northern parts. That said, I'm willing to bet my hard earned money that the State/Cental Government will be forced to provide either Cauvery or Hemavathi water to augment the water needs of Bangalore - specially after increasing taxes multiple fold.

Back to the topic, I don't think Jakkur (and Arkavathi layout) is not half as bad as Yelahanka or the stretch between Nagavara and Munireddy Palya.

Acutally, I'd suggest that you try Wikimapia (offlate my favorite site) at http://www.wikimapia.org where one can also search for specific places by name - invariably most major landmarks would have already been marked. For instance, the GKVK campus right across from Jakkur Aerodrome can be viewed using this URL .

As mentioned previously, I'm of a very strong opinion that the area around Hebbal will be the next big thing in Bangalore (one only has to think of the serenity that is synonymous with greenery and GKVK, Diary Farm, Hebbal lake, Nagawara lake, Rachenahalli lake and many others around the area make up for quite a bit). I've always wondered why people have ignored this stretch.

Anyways, happy hunting...:emwink:

One advantage in that area is that residential land is still a bit affordable. I bought a piece of land near that area 3 years ago, so you may want to think about buying something there.
