Issues for American born kids in India
Visa issues: School administration did not ask for visa or any immigration papers.
Fees: Same as other kids born in India.
Above is based on my personal experience. The process may be different in other places.

I am what you could term a 2-time R2Ier. i was born in the USA, relocated to India with my parents, relocated back to the USA and am contemplating R2Iing to India. No, I don't remember having ever being asked to submit any passport/visa copies or having to pay extra relative to my India born classmates. It's obviously been a while since I wa in school, but I don't think much has changed in terms of overseas born kids being required to pay more and/or submit citizenship documents for admissions to Indian schools. The one thing to look out for (and I have no experience of dealing with it since I relocated to the States right after hi school) is that you're often asked about your citizenship/state of residence when applying to colleges. I remember proving one's residence was a big deal for many of my friends who were appearing in JEEs (Joint Entrance Examinations) as they madly scrambled to procure domiscile certificates.
