Wierd, One can go the Indian website and it looks like all is well, but the consulates seem to have stopped accepting any more applications claiming technical issues. They have been sitting with all our US passports for months now. Why cant they return our passports while they fix the printers.

Due to some technical problems with printing of OCI cards in India, the registration process has been temporarily suspended. Please do not send in any new OCI application to the Consulate General of India in San Francisco. Inconvenience caused is regretted. Please check again later if this link has been restored.

Its crazy. Glad I do not have any international travel plans. All our passports are stuck somewhere in the pipeline for more than 2 months. If we ask for our passports back, processing will be completely stopped. All we know is that there is a technical difficulty in printing. I see a new OCI rule in the horizon: Along with the 100 copies of documents, please send a Canon color printer with each OCI application, if you want the printer back, send prepaid FedEx voucher.

Your passports have been leased out..
They are being used to bring people into this land of opportunity..
Since you said that you do not have any travel plans for now.. Why don't you sit and relax? Let your passports be used for some social cause..

Applied in Mid August at the SFO consulate. Rest of the dates are the same as harikb. Hopefully we will have our passports and OCI back in the next month. Based on this, 3 months of processing time should suffice for planning purposes.
