Dear All,
I am relatively new to this forum and I am planning my return to India in a year or so for good.
I need some feedback on gurus living in Northern part of Bangalore
( HMT, BEL, Vidyaranyapura, Jalahalli Villate, MES Road, Sundarnagar).
I lived in this area during my school days and haven't had a experience of
travelling from that place to the place of work in MG-ROAD, WhiteField, Electronic-City. So, any R2Ied folks' experience will be of great help.
1. How long is the commute from BEL Circle to MG-Road now a days assuming
travel by car, driving on my own?
2. Can I take ring road ( I was told that there is a ring road close to BEL circle)
to travel to Electronic City or White Field?
3. List of good schools nearby?
4. List of Good resturants nearby?
5. Cost of buying a house ( independent house ) around 2000 sq feet?
6. Cost of Renting a apartment in this area - rent per month + security deposit.
Is International airport close to this place compared to other airport?
Any other advantages, disadvantages of living in this area.
Thanks
BM

In my opinion North bangalore beyond Palace Orchards and is entirely different from other parts. It lacks the vibe, there are water problems & not well planned.

Its a pretty decent place. But commute to Electronic city could

There are few good streets in Malleswaram, like where the Kirloskars many bungalows are (I don't know the street numbers) besides that they are old houses, huge water issues & narrow main streets. More ever Malleswaram is not actual North even though it is part pf North. Location wise it is more of central close to Majestic and other older parts and also size wise it a very small locality

Jalahali, Around BEL, RMV, Yelahanka, Vidyaranyapura, Hebbal...
These places are good residential areas. Good schools around. I know few friends who stay around yelahanka area and travel to whitefield for work. They told it takes them around 45m-1 hour during morning for travel.
The sad part is no metro connection planned for area around this.,,eventhough there is already a railway line connecting these areas..till yelahanka.
There was a proposal to make the ring road connecting hebbal junction to marthahalli junction a expressway..if that happens travelling wouldn't be issue. I doubt they would implement it anytime soon.

Spoke to few friends + bangalore contacts on this topic and found out few things:
1. If you are living around BEL, HMT, MES Road there are few good resturants
and parks.
2. Kamath is in HMT and has beautiful garden resturant.
3. Nilgiris supermarket is closeby.
4. Ring road has good bus services ( 500 series ) and once can go around
anywhere in bangalore ( Kengeri, Madivala etc ).
5. If you plan to exercise in the morning ( especially during weekends ) there
are grounds closeby ( HMT, BEL, HMT-Watchfactory ).
6. Yelahanka is close-by. Also there is a internal road which leads to Yelhanka
and the potential International airport.
7. Few software companies are already in this area - ex: CG-Smith,
Deccanet Designs, Philips ( one office), Globaledge, Velankani-software,
slksoft etc.
8. Closeby engg colleges - MSR, VIT.
9. Mattikere, Gokula - well developed.
10. Yeshwantpur Railway station has improved and is a junction now.
11. Harekrishna temple is 7-8 KMs.
12. MES college, MES shishuvihar, Clooneyconvent KV are closeby ( not sure
how difficult is it to get into these now a days).
This is just few things I gathered after speaking to people who visited Bangalore
with the plan of R2I. Please post your feedback/opinions on these if you have
any exp.
thanks
cheers

There's another ring road coming close to / beyond Yelahanka which will probably make the commute to Whitefield much more easier and faster. Commute to Electronic city from these localities would be a nightmare - for sure.

Are you sure??? Ever heard of express luggage check-in while flying to international destinations from the new airport? I've heard and read about a Metro-link from the new International Airport at Devanahalli to the city center (MG Road) with a station at Hebbal being approved - not sure when it will become a reality though.

A lot of good things have been planned...waiting for them to materialize would be a nightmare though. -DJ

Sure...one can go around the inner part of the city (literally) if one has a few hours to spare. :emwink:
Yelahanka is close-by. Also there is a internal road which leads to Yelhanka and the potential International airport.
Yelahanka is close-by and there is a road connecting it. But then, I don't understand the usage of "internal" and "potential" above.

There's a bunch of them in Manyata Tech. Park apart from those that are reported to come along Bellary Road - not to mention a host of others that are spread out.

There's also DPS-North and (heard of) a branch of Ryan International on the North side of Bangalore.
