Hi everyone, can you please help with following?

1. can you recommend a reliable travel agent from personal experience or hearsay near West Mambalam/T Nagar for passport renewal?

2. Have any of you domne PP renewal recently? This is for my spouse whpo also needs a surname change done along with renewal. If so, can you say what is the best possible route to avoid waiting for long at the office since it is not possible for spouse to do that.

I hear applying thru tatkal means compulsary presence for half a day? Is that true?

3. If so, if you apply thru normal quota, what is the time taken for renewal?

4. There are columns for both permanent and current residential address in the forms. If these addresses are different, then proof of residence is needed for which address?
Because although residential address is not Chennai, for the last 1 year spouse has been living in the permanent address in Chennai. So we are thinking of furnishing proof of residence for Chennai, is that OK?

5. For proof of residence there are no telephone bills or voter IDs or driving licenses. Is a ration card(which is not quite date-specific like a telephone bill) and a bank passbook(in which spouse has recently been made joint holder but the account has been there for more than a year) sufficient? ID proof is not a problem.

6. Has the procedure been simplified a bit inrecent times to avoid queues, waiting times and so on?
