I am R2Iing in a few days. I have retirement and non-retirement brokerage accounts in US and haven't filed Indian taxes ever.

I want to keep my next year taxes in India simple. So, I am thinking of selling stocks/mutual funds that I hold in US before returning to India so that I don't have to declare any stock sale for stocks I hold in US.

What do you guys think of this?

I think I am RNOR for tax purposes for current year. Does the answer change if I am ROR for current year? (I was working remotely from India for 6 months in 2009 and 3-4 months in 2010)
