US Visitor Visa Sponsorship Question

We are expecting our second child in October and my wife would like to have her parents come to US for a few months to help out.

My wife is a stay-at-home person and has never worked. So, the parents would be sponsored based on my financial condition ie. my earnings, my savings, etc.

On visa application should I be the one who sponsors them, or should it be my wife? If my wife filled out under her name would it be rejected since she has no earnings?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks. Do you know anybody who did exactly that (husband sponsoring in laws?)
And if so how long of a visa did they get? I'm assuming visa will be short duration.

I did that many years ago! My in-laws got their visas for 10 years! (yay! Lucky me!)

I know lots of them.
It doesnt matter..generally its 10 year multiple entry..but i have heard cases where the period was pretty less..but i dont think it has got to do with the diff between a kid sponsoring or inlaw sponsoring.
Rest assured and inform them that they need to show this as a pleasure visit.
Dont inform the VO abt pregnancy and helping. It will work against them getting a visa. All the best

yeah I did it for my in-laws. Visa is usually given for 10 yrs multiple entry but again not always. Make sure you just say that they want to visit you this summer or something like that. Get your employer letter, bank statements (BofA has a neat format for $10 which will be printed in their names who need the letter) and an I-134 form where you need to fillin your income/asset details.

Guys thanks for the info.

I was looking at a list of docs required and had a question on that.

It says that you need to provide a copy of your passport and birth certificate if sponsoring your parents. But since my I am sponsoring my wife's parents I do not need to provide her passport and birth certificate copies right?

Your wife's passport copy and her birth certificate is needed to prove that she is the daughter of your in laws.
