What do you do for yourself ?

Post by anwesha »

I happened to meet a lady whose older child is in final year of college. She started taking music lessons, told us that she felt like having spent her entire life driving each of her kids from one activity to another and have not done anything for herself. She was reviving her interests/hobbies after 28+yrs :)

Just curious... did the lady work when her children were younger? Does she now?

Either way, I think it is very tempting/easy/natural to let one's hobbies and me-time take a back seat when kids are not yet in college.

Thread is an old one! Nice to read older posts. Haven't seen posts from r2i_jan_2008 in a really long while.

r2i_jan_2008 once said she attempted and deliberately tried to reduce participation in this forum once the scrutiny of why she always opens threads with question marks started and also said she could not take the abrasive nature of this public forum.

Looks like she succeeded in her detox as we haven't seen her in a while : )

Memories-r-us as this information was recalled without any search : )
Unrelated-r-us as I am also going with the flow of bringing unrelated topics like how MR's post was used for a topic totally unrelated to in what context she posted : )

Looks like she did succeed in staying away from forum. One more member who has been successful at that is our.r2i.

RRS, Welcome back. To forum and to corner. :) Missed your posts. Sachchi. :)

I sincerely hope that my coming back will not result in someone leaving. Really, why such a fuss was made for a comment in BCC ? Zenana dibba refers to Harem too. One is Kosher and other is not? Why ? Especially with Sai who has always stood up for women equality.. Beats me.

RRS, I am at a loss to understand your above post. I only said 'welcome back'. Now, how does your coming back get related to any one's potential leaving?

About 'why such a fuss' - I don't know what fuss you are talking about. My posts on the matter - I have explained those in BCC already. I have nothing else or new to add.

Zenana dibba - looks like this should have been addressed to Club_admin and has been sorted out in BCC.

Any further questions about the 'fuss' are best directed to admins or members who posted on the matter.

Unrelated, alright! But don't know what I should make of this post. I was the one who had said about the que mark thingy, you call that scrutinizing her posts, and speculate that she doesn't post because of that?

I'm sure you have good memory and remember this - I was only a few posts old on this forum and a senior, highly respected member had accused me of starting "DBS quotes thread" just to increase the Thanks count and the post count and additionally added (it was later mentioned that it was in jest) that I should consider adding one quote per post so that way my post # will go up sooner. I was told that the member was just kidding.. But I was hurt deeply. :( I considered that member a good friend and more and continue to do so; I let it go and moved on. I am here to make friends and not keep score of what offends me, who hurts me and so on.
I too could have dwelt over the scrutiny and detox'd rt? Not that I'm sticking around the forum making benevolent contribution to the R2I club purpose. But, I am disappointed with the above analysis, and the way things have turned out.
Good day!

First of all, my #22 and #24 are monologues at its best with not referencing any members. But since #25 and #26 are addressed to me, I just want to ask why assume they were addressed to members who responded unless there is a persecution complex : )

AFAIK consulting club-admin on usage, already done before suggestion and admin responded to my satisfaction and case closed from my end : )

My last post on this. Instead of dwelling over usage of 2 years ago or couple of days ago, admin has deemed both words are offensive and hope members will not use both in the future.
