Why vendor at chennai airport accept only dollars?

Why vendor at chennai airport accept only dollars?

Have you ever noticed once you check in you have few duty free shops, these vendors accept only dollars? while this is not the case in any other airport, in London they accept only Pound, in France only Euro while in India should it not be Indian Rupee?

FEX restrictions by RBI. Hold over from past. It could be due to no one in govt. has thought about it.

Perhaps, it is an attempt to fleece those last few dollars that you held back from exchanging for local currency!! :-)

At the Delhi International Airport even the coolies request to be tipped in dollars/euros/pounds.
I guess they suppose $5 is loose change for us.

RBI does not want your dollars any more. Restrictions on P Notes is to reduce dollar inflow and hold up rupee conversion rate.
