Will my Plasma / LCD TV work in India?

Post by prithviraj »

Hi

I will be R2I ing to B'lore in May and have a Plasma TV that I am planning to carry with me. Since the system is NTSC will it work. I was thinking that since set top boxes are available in India now (Hathway, DishTV, TataSky etc) and if I connect the A/V out to my TV and not use the NTSC tuner in the TV will it display the picture?

The TV has 110-240 V so I should be OK on that front atleast :)

Based on this I was planning to purchase another LCD TV to take back as it is really expensive to buy it in India.

Did anyone have any luck with TVs that they took back from here?

Not sure where to post this so any help will be appreciated.

The tuners in a TV kick in only when the signal is an analog TV. Since the signals from Tatasky/Dish etc are all digital signals the Plasma TV which you have will basically bypass the usage of the NTSC tuner. To answer your question yes your TV from the USA will work in India as well, provided your signal is a digital signal.
Thx
