Women and self reliance

Post by crekha »

Why are women who insist on being self reliant labeled as home wreckers? I am relatively new to this forum but am shocked at the number of posts where a wife who ?gives up everything for her husband? is praised and is considered more mature. Why is the wife who looks ahead and understands that life is unpredictable and that she needs to be self reliant not equally mature?

There is no right or wrong way, but I am surprised to see some of the posts put down women who prefer to be financially independent.

crekha, welcome home :)

Not wanting to rekindle, lets' just say it's the Indian(male)thing.

Hope you get more opinions. Make sure you don't get drowned.

Very true. Not only the forum, I guess that?ll be the case outside the forum as well : )

Good questions. The responses will be more in the main forum, if you don?t mind taking it there.

Crekha, like MR said, Welcome Home.

There was a time, I was new to forum. I used to be surprised at posts too. I am now, let's say, old.

Many of the topics you have touched upon in different threads recently, have been discussed in some depth. One thread I remember is Financial help to the parents in-law.

This being an anonymous forum, you will see some of the men wishing their women to still belong to 19th century. But as you might have seen, many in the forum do support women to be self-reliant and financially independent as well. You are a relatively newcomer, so just have to learn to ignore posts that put down women's independence. As you become regular here, the ignoring will come more naturally : )
All the best for second one, January or before . Don't stress out.

I presume you are in your last trimester, I suggest you keep the thread here and do not take it to main forum.

modus_vivendi;347085Crekha, some unsolicited and unrelated thoughts - what you have posted is very real and answers are not easy to come up with. But, we women have to learn to compartmentalize like men. At this time, you just have to put all disturbing thoughts and issues out of your mind. You owe that to your unborn child, yourself and your toddler. Focus on your pregnancy and the upcoming delivery. How you do this, only you can figure out, but do not brood on the injustices of Indian system and other such depressing facts.

One more thing to keep in mind is that there is no such thing as anonymity on the Internet, someone somewhere knows exactly who you are. If you feel you have disclosed too much info in your posts, you can request edit or delete by admins.

Once you've had your baby, we can revisit this topic, and discuss it in depth : )

Totally agree with above!!! May be time to watch Ice Age / Madagascar / Tom and Jerry! :)

Other things will definitely be there for lot more time ahead. So let us talk it out in a easy relaxed manner.... like

'yeh apna system jho hai na...auratoan ke liye bada nainsaaf hai...!' And then eat a samosa eyeing the gulab jamun next! What say you? :)

(This system is totally unjust to we woman)
