worth buying a phone with sim card for next visit ?

is it worth buying a basic cell phone from india and for use next visit back home or just sim card and insert to a phone from US desi store ? which is cheaper ?

If you have a GSM phone, you can call your operator to get it unlocked for use with AirTel Sim cards. (or any other indian GSM pre paid operator). I just sold my old unlocked AT&T phone on eBay for $40. Very soon, Micromax phones may be cheaper than Sim cards, or be given out free with all sim cards. :))
