Recently when I went to Thomas Cook I was told that the Reserve Bank of India has a rule (about 3 yrs old) that a Foreign national can only cash a max of 3,000 USD TC in a month.
I commented that it was a strange rule and how exactly am I supposed to get money to pay for my expenses if I need more than 3000 USD. Their answer wasnt very clear. One person told me that I could try doing it at two different places.
So anyone aware of this rule or was it just bad info?
Thanks in adavance.

As far as I know, there is no such limit.. infact any bank will welcome you to convert your TCs into INR. Only limitation is, when bringing in more than 10K ( in cash or TC), declare it, while coming out of airport. Limits are there for converting INR into USD.
