Two providers of Indian TV Channels online --- YuppTV.com and ChannelLive.TV are now available on Roku. I got a chance to play YuppTV's test channel. The quality is not bad at all. But, the selection of channels is somewhat limited.
Having WatchIndia.TV (which offers a lot more channels) support Roku would be awesome -- but their rep said that they don't have any plans for making it available.

Streaming Indian Channels to the TV

Have heard good reviews about watchindia.tv for regular TV serials, contests and news.

1. How is it for watching India's cricket matches?

2. I am about to subscribe to their 5 channel package, and have 3 Hindi channels picked out. Which two channels of all the channels offered would be best to pick for watching cricket matches?

3. On which channels in India do cricket matches get telecast mostly? Does watchindia.tv's Mega Hindi package include these?

Thanks.

Its big money making business so I don?t think any WI channel will give you latest live cricket match. I think Set Max and star sports have rights and they are not in WI.

Make sure you pay via CC only. WI is hit or miss, and absolutely no tech /customer service support. Their customer service is worst than Indian govt. office.

ROKU has couple of indian channels channellive, yupptv, reliapleiptv, aimflicks, tamiliptv, and few other indian channels. It doesn't have watchindia.tv yet.
No buffering issues, so far connecting roku wireless through FIOS router.
some of these channels are in beta-test mode, streaming free.
good luck.

I had used their free trial a while back. Quality seemed fairly decent. They had bundled everything into one or two packages back then. Since then, they have expanded to more channels and offer various packages.

1) Haven't watched cricket matches on WI, but cricket comes only on 2 channels, willowtv and zeesports, with a caveat. WI doesnt offer willowtv, only zee sports. Zee sports is part of many packages or can be picked out.

2) Only zee sports offered by WI shows cricket matches. But, it is limited to cricket played only in the indian sub-continent (Ind, SL, Pak and BD).

3) Zee sports again. It is included in most packages, but you have to look at each one to make sure.

In general, in USA, only willowtv and zeesports have the rights to show cricket matches. Willowtv covers cricket played in Aus, NZ, SA, Eng and WI (west indies), while zee sports is for cricket played in Ind, Pak, SL and BD. Neither one is going to broadcast worldcup free of charge. World cup package has to be bought for $129.

In a nutshell, this is the path I would follow.

a) If the series is played outside India, subscribe to willowtv - website: www.willow.tv, for $15 a month.

b) If the series is played in India, subscribe to zee sports channel on WatchIndia or any other site offering cricket.

I am using Roku for watching channelLive. Quality is decent, not great. If you watch it on the computer, quality is good enough. Quality seems to vary with content and internet speed/bandwidth. Right now, they are showing all the channels free as they are in the beta mode.
