I need some advice and would like inputs from all of you. I have a BE in CSE from India and an MBA from the US, worked in the US for 6 years after that, last I was earning 105K with IBM, with a terrific job profile.
Now I work for Satyam for 11 Lakhs, (Why I settled for this less is a long story) but at that time I had to. Its been 3 months in satyam, and I am ready to kill my self if I am here any longer. So I am starting to look for new job openings else where.
Last Friday however there was a meeting with the big shots of the company, and I attended it, I got invited to it because I helped my manager with the ppt and she wanted me there. Anyway, I got a chance to interact with some pretty high up people who were very impressed with me and ask me ? what are you doing in satyam again?? One has also said that he wanted me to complete my PMP certification and that he would like to take me as a PM on one his projects (provided my manager approves)
If I stay long enough I know I can make a pretty good impression and move up pretty fast. But a meager salary of 11L is killing me. It dissappoints me to see my bank account on the first of every month.
So what should I do, should I just look for other better paying options and move on knowing I can do a pretty good job anywhere I go or should I stick around and see what will happen and turn out of this promise or little ray of hope this top guy has shown me.

First of all, what is your job profile at Satyam? I'm guessing that the role is that of a second level IC since the salary is pretty low.
Secondly, it will help us in understand how you ended up with Satyam after working at IBM with that "terrific profile".
My suggestion to you, would be to look for better opportunities and roles trying to highlight the experience at IBM since you had a better portfolio there. With an MBA and a handy 6 year stint at IBM, you could a good asset to many organizations.
Btw, to get a PMP certification, one must be in PM or at least in some flavor of PM. Isn't that not the case? Are you in PM already?

Do you share a good rapport with your manager?. If she needs you badly then how's she going to take it that you would be leaving her team?. You might want to dwell on this.
I believe you'll be better off looking for jobs elsewhere given your terrific job profile with IBM.

6 years experience and 11 Lac is a good salary in company like Satyam.
If you compare that salary with 105K Which you were getting in US, you will be dissapointed.
But reality is in a services company it's good pay, if you move to some product/captive company you will definitely get more but still you will be disappointed as you are comparing that with US salary.
SO i would suggest if possible go back to where you belong to.

Let me guess your background - 6 years exp in IBM with MBA and 105K salary means you could be working as Business / System Analyst in USA and for these profiles in India - 11lakhs would be appropriate salary. I assume you took job with Satyam in emergency like immigration/ family issues ( like H1b expired or stamping issues).
Solutions -
1. Get PMP certified and try to get PM position in your company. Salary may rise to 15 to 20 lakhs over a period of time ( don't expect immediate improvement)
2. Try to get a Sr position in domain/ field of what you were doing in USA - may need to change companies and could get you a better salary ( chances are fair)
3. Try for position with IBM in India( assuming you were in good terms when left IBM) - chances of increase in salary - fair
Bottom line - looking for increase in salary - concentrate on how you can present your skills in a way that would benefit your company/ project/manager - financial incentives will follow !!
Good luck

Once you settle for a salary, then for the next job (in the same company or outside one) that salary forms the basis. It's very hard to get an abnormal hike. That is why when you switch your job you should make sure you get what you deserve in terms of salary or title. We make the mistake when we are desperate for a job. We compromise on the salary/title thinking that we only need the entry and then we can show our performance and get the salary/title that we deserve. No matter what you do they never give you an abnormal hike or a higher title in a short period of time,
All recruiters will look at your current salary only and assume you are only worth that amount and provide only the current hike rate of the market. But it is not impossible to get a great hike if someone is looking desperately for people with your kind of profile and is highly impressed by you. So you can keep trying to find such a job but the best bet is to hop multiple jobs within a short period to reach the higher end of the salary range for your experience.
IMO, it's not worth jumping to new jobs when the hike is only 10 to 20% if there is a possibility of ending up in a less happy environment. So do everything you can to make sure the new job environment is not worse than your current one.
