Bangalore?? why return back to another USA?

Post by Archana935 »

Just curious.many people want to or return to Bangalore...

I have been to Bangalore many times on my India trips and also have relatives there.so I have an idea about the lifestyle.
my relatives also claim Bangalore has all the brands etc etc and life is just like usa. Many say "oh! Bangalore is second USA".
well..I live in one of the states in USA which is densely populated with Indians. We celebrate all the functions and festivals in communities in USA nowadays as do in India. Also, community these days have gym, volleyball court etc etc.School ratings are also awesome considering every second person is an Indian around.Indian parents make sure their kids do well academically.food is also not a problem coz most of the restaurants are around these days..the same we get in Bangalore.

Bangalore is a melting pot of immigrants just like USA.Why leave USA to go back to a place which is similar?

If one has to return back to India,it has to be for the family, the culture and Native place.

Some of my friends who returned back to Bangalore came back to the USA within 4 years.could the above be a reason for r2i failure?

If there is no hard pressed reason for you to go back to India, then you don't fall into the category of "potential r2i desi".

For some, there will be a strong reason like old parents, job, exposure to kids to Indian culture (Not desi culture) that make them think of r2i. I would speculate < 5% of desis who emigrate consider r2i and less than 2% actually go through it. Many move back to US after few years of r2i for their kids college education or when job opportunities dry up in India for anyone older than 45 years.

Yes, you can potentially get a "comparatively" high paying job in India depending on your skills and there are schools that follow IB curriculum for kids who plan to go back to US for college. But, I doubt anyone considering r2i is assuming "oh! Bangalore is second USA" just because there are some Malls selling some "phoren" brands. To live the "western" lifestyle in India require lot of money.

Isn't it good for R2I people to return to Bangalore if Bangalore is like USA? I would think it is perfect, best of both worlds and that might be the reason many people returning to India prefer Bangalore over other places.
Having said that, only certain places in Bangalore offer that US feeling. Bangalore still has that old charm if you visit those kind of places.

Bangalore like USA ? :24:
IF that is so, for someone addicted to the USA, Bangalore could be like the Methadone Clinic to spend some time in, and then, when totally detox'ed, be released into the real India.

[QUOTE]from wiki':
A methadone clinic is a clinic which has been established for the dispensing of methadone (Dolophine), a schedule II opioid analgesic, to those who abuse heroin and other opioids. The focus of these clinics is the elimination or reduction of opioid usage by putting the patient on methadone. Some clinics also offer short- or long-term detoxification services to their patients using methadone. A common term for the type of treatment at a methadone clinic is "replacement therapy". While generally considered successful as a treatment method, the use of this maintenance treatment is often viewed as controversial.

I would imagine that getting household help is easier in Bangalore vs. USA. And depending where you are in the US, the weather of Bangalore might be more pleasant...

Which city do you live in the US?

I don't R2I, because my

Fun is in USA, Most of my Family is in USA.
All of my Friends (except one) are in USA
The food I love and enjoy is in USA (Extremely hard to find in India).
Festivals are not my cup of tea.
Familiar Culture, heck USA offers me a mix of both Indian and US cultures and I enjoy that mix.
I hate waking up to a five O clock bhajans and gurbani flowing in thru my windows in India.

And in India, it is very difficult to find good wine, casinos, etc etc.
