Congestion building up at Nhava Sheva port
Latest reports from Nhava Sheva state that the situation is getting worse. The main issues are as follows:
1) containers arriving from abroad meant for inland destinations (delhi, nashik, hyderabad etc...) are not getting railed out fast enough and are piling up in the port area (where there is limited space). Where normally containers would get railed out with 3-4 days of the ships arrival it takes anywhere from 10-14 days
2) containers arriving from inland origin points (delhi, nashik, hyderabad etc...) for exports out of India are not getting on ships fast enough and are piling up in the port area (where there is limited space)
due to this, there are almost 25k containers over and above the capacity of the holding area and there are space issues leading to congestion. We are montoring the status and will update here when the situation changes (for the better or for the worse).
