Managing large stock investments in USA after r2i as an NRI

I r2i'ed few years ago, and will soon be NRA after I return my GC. Have large investments in USA largely in stocks on mutual funds, which have grown significantly in recent past. Also, I don't want to sell them right away as I believe there is still significant growth potential.

NRA folks who have r2i'ed: do you keep large investments in USA? How do you manage them? The things I am worried about are when I do end up selling them eventually, there are certain requirements that make it hard to get the money in India -- e.g., Vanguard international money transfer needs a signature in front of a consular officer, Wells Fargo needs wire transfer to be initiated in person if the amount is greater than $12.5K/month, etc.

That is strange. I invest in US stocks via Interactive brokers. I can easily withdraw money via wire transfer any amount to any bank account in any country.

I wonder if you can open an account in IB using rupee and do similar trading?

You can open IB for trading Indian stocks but it is a different kind of account. Basically, if you allowed to fund an account using rupees you can't trade overseas stocks.

The only way Indians can trade overseas stocks is using LRS, they will have to wire money into the international IB account.
